The 45th AFSCME International Convention:
The 45th AFSCME International Convention will be held in Philadelphia Pennsylvania from July 11th to July 15th, 2022.
Every two years, thousands of AFSCME members and retirees from across the nation get together to discuss issues of vital importance to our communities, our workplaces, and our union.
Since the founding of our union in 1932, there have been 44 International Conventions. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, 2020’s was held virtually. But this year, we are All Together!

On the Convention, your HOPE Constitution and Bylaws state the following:
Section 2, Members' Rights: The right for all members in good standing to be delegates to the AFSCME International Convention in accordance with the procedures of the International Union.
Section (9) International Convention Delegates: HOPE delegates to the AFSCME International Convention shall be elected in accordance with the procedure of the International Union.
This means YOU can fully participate in the process! Convention Delegate set the union’s priorities for the future, renew shared commitments, and strategize to make all AFSCME Locals across the world stronger.
HOPE International Convention Delegate Election Process and Schedule:
IMPORTANT: Nominations of either yourself or another HOPE member can be sent to [email protected] with "Convention Delegate Nomination" in the Subject Line and MUST INCLUDE Name, Employee ID, Department, Preferred Phone, and Personal Email Address.
- April 22nd: Nominations Notice Mailed out to every HOPE member.
- May 10th: Nominations period is officially opened.
- May 17th: Nominations period is officially closed.
- Jun 6th & 7th: Delegate Elections to be held in various locations including the HOPE office at 2506 Sutherland, Houston, TX 77023.
- June-July: HOPE Activities to capture what priorities are important here in Houston to share with AFSCME at the International Convention.
- July 11th - July 15th: The 45th AFSCME International Convention.
- July-August: HOPE Activities to share what Delegates have brought back from AFSCME brothers and sisters at the International Convention.
